Stora Ursvik, Residential district in Sundbyberg, Sweden
Stora Ursvik is a new residential district in Sundbyberg with varied building heights, featuring lower structures in the north and taller ones framing the south and west sides. The neighborhood integrates different housing types across its planned layout.
The site began as farmland owned by the Oxenstierna family before becoming a Swedish military base in the early 1900s. Military operations ceased in 2005, opening the way for residential redevelopment.
The district centers around community facilities designed for families and learning, creating gathering spaces that blend residential life with public services. These spaces reflect how the area is meant to grow as an integrated neighborhood.
The area connects to Stockholm's transit network through two tram stations on the Tvärbanan Kista line located in the western section. This access makes getting around the city straightforward for residents and visitors.
The entire development follows a master plan that fundamentally transforms the site and creates thousands of new homes. This scale makes it one of the region's largest urban development projects.
