Varuhuset Femman

Varuhuset Femman is a shopping complex in Nordstan with three floors and approximately 50 stores offering fashion, technology, beauty products, home goods, and restaurants. The building creates a unified shopping environment where visitors can find diverse product categories under one roof.

The building was created as the fifth development phase of the Nordstan district and was designed by architects Backström & Reinius. It opened to the public on September 28, 1972.

The shopping complex brings together international brands and local merchants in one of Gothenburg's main commercial hubs, shaping how people spend their time downtown.

The direct connection to Nordstan's parking garage makes visiting straightforward, and the downtown location ensures easy access by public transport as well. Visitors should plan to spend time on multiple floors to explore the full range of shops.

A 2016 renovation by property company Hufvudstaden refreshed the interior spaces while preserving the original structural design of the building. This transformation shows how an older building can be updated for modern shopping while keeping its foundational character.
