Västanå Manor, building in Jönköping Municipality, Jönköping County, Sweden
Västanå Manor is a historic manor house in Gränna, Jönköping County, with origins dating back to the 14th century and a main structure largely rebuilt in 1767. The building features high stone walls, multiple floors, and shows architectural elements from different periods, especially the 18th century.
The estate was originally founded by the Ulfsparre family and remained in their possession for seven generations before being sold in 1641 to Per Brahe the Younger. Between 1767 and 1770 it underwent extensive rebuilding under Rutger Bennet, and further changes occurred in the 1920s, including the removal of the third floor.
The name comes from old Swedish language and reflects the estate's deep roots in the region. Today it functions as a hotel and restaurant, bringing people together to experience history and hospitality in a place with centuries of heritage.
The estate offers accommodation and meals throughout the year, with facilities open from April to December for visitors seeking local cuisine. A tennis court is available free of charge to guests, and an 18-hole golf course lies nearby for additional activities.
It was the first property of its kind in Sweden to offer hotel accommodation within a historic manor building, an innovation that began in 1948. The property has been managed by the von Otter family since then, continuing its preservation across generations.
