Rikstens gård, Manor house in Botkyrka Municipality, Sweden
Rikstens gård is a brick manor house in Botkyrka Municipality featuring symmetrical towers and side pavilions that stand near the northern shore of Bysjön lake in the Tullinge area. Today it continues to operate as an active agricultural and forestry property, remaining the only working farm within its parish.
The site was first documented in 1356 and gained scepter rights in 1615 under royal treasurer Peder Nilsson Gyllenax. The brick building standing today was constructed in the early 1900s according to architect Knut Nordenskjöld's design.
The manor reflects National Romantic architectural ideals that shaped early 20th-century Swedish building design. Its distinctive towers and symmetrical layout show how architectural tastes of that era were expressed in the countryside.
The estate is privately operated and can be viewed from outside, allowing visitors to appreciate the building's design and the surrounding landscape from the Bysjön lake shore. Keep in mind that this is an active working property and private land should be respected.
Archaeological excavations on the grounds have revealed Stone Age artifacts and two burial fields from the Late Iron Age. These discoveries indicate continuous human settlement spanning thousands of years.
