Botkyrka Municipality

Botkyrka is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden with urban neighborhoods in the north and more rural areas toward the south. The region is connected by metro stations, commuter rail lines, and buses that serve the entire area.

The municipality takes its name from Saint Botvid, a 12th-century Christian missionary whose image with an axe and fish appears on the municipal seal. A significant event occurred in 1568 when a major battle took place here that shaped the region's political landscape.
