Igelsta Bridge, Railway bridge in Södertälje Municipality, Sweden
Igelsta Bridge is a concrete railway viaduct that spans across the Södertälje Canal and the E4 motorway. The structure stretches about 2140 meters long and rises about 48 meters above the water surface.
The concrete structure was completed in 1995 and represented a major advancement in Swedish railway infrastructure. The bridge was built to handle growing traffic demands between Stockholm and regions beyond more efficiently.
The bridge forms part of the Västra Stambanan railway line, connecting Stockholm with multiple regions across Sweden through its dual-track system.
The bridge connects Södertälje Syd station to railway lines extending toward Stockholm and beyond. Visitors can access the station at the western end where transport options are available.
This structure is the longest railway-only bridge in Scandinavia and carries four tracks at its western section. This multi-track section allows the bridge to handle different train services simultaneously.
