Wendela Hebbes hus, Literary museum and restaurant in Södertälje, Sweden.
Wendela Hebbes Hus is a restored wooden building in Södertälje that features exhibition rooms upstairs where objects related to the writer's life are displayed. The ground floor contains a museum shop and a restaurant for visitors to use during their visit.
The house was given as a Christmas gift in the 19th century by newspaper editor Lars Johan Hierta to Wendela Hebbe, Sweden's first female journalist. It served as her home during a period when few women worked in such roles.
The house is named after the writer who lived and worked within these walls, and visitors can see how she spent her days surrounded by books and family possessions. Literary events and performances held here continue to reflect her influence on Swedish culture.
The museum offers guided tours that allow visitors to explore the collections at a comfortable pace and learn more about what is on display. The restaurant on the ground floor makes it easy to combine a visit with a meal or refreshment.
The building originally stood in a different location called Snäckviken and was carefully dismantled and moved in 1985. It was then reassembled near a local park and opened as a museum in 1998.
