Mora farmstead

Mora farmstead is an open-air museum section within Skansen featuring historic farmhouses and outbuildings from the Dalarna region. The structures display how rural families built their homes and organized their working spaces.

These farmhouses were brought to Skansen in the 19th century to preserve the history of Swedish rural life. They come from a period when most Swedes still lived in the countryside and worked the land.

The farmstead shows how people in a Swedish rural region lived and worked, with authentic furniture and tools from earlier times. Visitors can see how families arranged their homes and what objects they used in daily life.

The site is part of the large Skansen open-air museum, which sits on a hillside and can be explored on foot. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and allow time for walking between the various buildings.

One special feature is the old wooden ladders made with a unique hand-carved technique that can still be seen today. These show the craft skill of the builders who worked without modern tools.
