Bogenšperk Castle, Renaissance castle in Municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji, Slovenia.
Bogenšperk is a three-story castle with four wings and towers arranged around an inner courtyard with arcaded passages. The oldest part of the structure is the north tower, which rises above the other sections.
A prominent scholar purchased the castle in 1672 and set up a printing press to publish his major work about the surrounding region. This activity made the site an important center for knowledge and information during the 17th century.
Inside the castle you can see minerals, traditional Slovenian clothing, and geodetic tools that reflect how people lived and worked in the region over centuries. These collections show the daily life and skills that mattered to communities here.
The site is easy to access and offers views of the surrounding landscape from the upper levels of the castle. Plan to climb stairs if you want to explore the different floors and towers throughout the building.
Inside you will find one of Slovenia's largest collections of geodetic instruments, showing how people once measured and mapped the earth. Also preserved is an original 17th-century printing workshop where historical techniques remain visible.
