Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport sits 24 kilometers northwest of the capital and features a 3,300-meter runway. The facility handles nearly all passenger air traffic in Slovenia.
Operations began on December 24, 1963, as a replacement for the former Polje facility. Regular flights started two weeks later in January 1964.
The name honors a Slovenian statesman who played a central role during the country's independence movement. Travelers encounter this memory today in the signage and official documents throughout the facility.
The 2021 passenger terminal can process up to 1,250 travelers per hour and is served by 14 airlines. Connections reach important destinations across Europe.
