Mrzli Vrh is a 1359 meter summit in Tolmin Municipality with far-reaching views across the landscape. The outlook spans the Soča valley and the surrounding Julian Alps.
This mountain was a key fighting zone during World War I, where Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces battled starting in 1915. That intense period left deep marks on this mountain area.
A small chapel sits below the summit as a memorial to soldiers from past conflicts, holding objects that tell their story. Visitors come to experience this place of remembrance and feel the quiet atmosphere around it.
The hike starts from Krn village at 840 meters elevation and follows marked trails through forest sections to reach the top. The walk takes around 90 minutes and needs sturdy shoes.
Near the summit sits Puščavnikova jama Cave, which requires a flashlight to explore inside. Within its passages you can find rock formations and traces of military activity from past conflicts.
