Lake Bukovniško, lake in north-eastern Slovenia
Lake Bukovniško is a water reservoir covering approximately seven hectares with an average depth of three meters, surrounded by dense forest with oak and beech trees. The water is calm and clear, and a simple path circles the basin through the woodland.
The water basin was created between 1947 and 1948 when a dam was built to prevent flooding in lower areas. The small Chapel of Saint Vida on its shores dates to 1828 and stands where a wooden church once stood.
The reservoir takes its name from a nearby settlement. Visitors encounter wooden figures along the shore, including the water nymph Rusalka and the fish spirit Jezernik, which embody local folklore and give the place a folk heritage character.
The lake is accessible from the nearby village of Dobrovnik, where parking is available. A walking path of about 1.7 kilometers circles the basin and offers easy orientation for visitors of all ages.
A network of 32 energy points is said to be distributed around the basin, with two energy lines supposedly crossing at the chapel. Visitors report a special sense of calm at these locations, marked by wooden plaques.
