Neviodunum, Archaeological site in Drnovo, Slovenia.
Neviodunum is a Roman settlement in Drnovo that stretches along a dry tributary of the Sava River. The excavations reveal ceramic workshops, pipe factories, large warehouses, and remains of a port that once handled trade goods.
The settlement received city status in 79 AD and became known as Municipium Flavium Latobicorum Neviodunum. It was abandoned in the late 4th century.
The remains here reveal how Roman people lived and worked in this settlement. Foundations of houses, workshops, and baths show the daily patterns of this ancient community.
The excavation site is walkable with different areas that are easy to identify. It is best visited in dry weather to see the structures clearly and move safely across the ground.
This site contains an impressive water system with multiple springs and cisterns. The system shows how advanced engineering provided water to the ancient population.
