Šrajbarski Turn Castle

Šrajbarski Turn Castle is a Renaissance structure in Leskovec pri Krškem built with four residential wings that surround a rectangular courtyard featuring arcades and corner towers. The symmetrical arrangement creates a self-contained court with covered passages that frame the open space inside.

Records from 1436 first mention two separate manors at this location under Baron Johann Dürrer's ownership, which gradually merged into a single castle structure over time. This consolidation of properties shaped how the building developed across multiple generations.

The coats of arms displayed above the main gate and on courtyard walls tell stories of the families who lived here over centuries. These heraldic symbols mark the building as a place where noble families left their mark on the land.

The site sits north of Leskovec pri Krškem village in southeastern Slovenia and is accessible on foot from the village center. Approach the castle by walking rural paths, so wear appropriate footwear and bring what you might need for outdoor exploration.

The Renaissance park on the grounds holds a monument to Alfonz Paulin, a Slovene botanist whose father once worked as the castle warder. This connection between a notable scientist and his family's service to the place adds a layer of human history to the setting.
