The three-naved church features two towers, stained glass windows from Innsbruck, and follows Romanesque Revival architectural patterns throughout its structure.
The construction began in 1908 under Prince Bishop Mihael Napotnik's supervision, and Pope Pius XI elevated it to Minor Basilica status in 1929.
The interior displays artistic works by Osvald Bierte and Peter Markovič, including painted scenes from the Rosary and allegorical depictions.
The basilica maintains regular mass schedules throughout the week, with specific times for Sunday and holiday services available through the parish office.
The basilica shares an affiliation with the Liberian Basilica of Saint Maria Maggiore in Rome since October 1929.
