Our Lady of Lourdes Basilica is a three-naved church with two towers located in Brestanica. The building follows Romanesque Revival architectural patterns and features stained glass windows from Innsbruck.
Construction began in 1908 under the supervision of Prince Bishop Mihael Napotnik. Pope Pius XI elevated the church to Minor Basilica status in 1929.
The interior displays artistic works by Osvald Bierte and Peter Markovič, including painted scenes from the Rosary and allegorical depictions. These works tell religious stories that visitors encounter as they move through the building.
The church welcomes visitors during regular weekday services and special weekend hours. The parish office can provide details about when to visit for specific religious observances.
The basilica holds an affiliation with the Liberian Basilica of Saint Maria Maggiore in Rome since October 1929. This connection ties it to one of Europe's oldest sanctuaries.
