Prežek Mansion

Prežek Mansion is a stone building in Cerov Log with architectural features dating to the 15th century and multiple wings arranged around a central courtyard. The structure shows the design typical of noble residences from that period in this part of Europe.

Nobleman Andrej Auersperg built this residence in the 15th century and it passed through the hands of various noble families over the centuries. Italian forces attacked it in 1942 during World War II.

The building shows how Slovenian noble families lived and built their homes, and it appears in historical collections from the 1600s that recorded regional architecture. Its design reflects the building traditions that shaped this part of Slovenia over many generations.

The mansion stands abandoned in a remote location, so plan extra time to reach and explore it. The path runs through Cerov Log and requires careful navigation across rural terrain.

After the Italian attack in 1942, local partisans deliberately set the building on fire to prevent enemy forces from using it as a military base. This act shows how deeply the property was caught up in the conflict of that time.
