Prievidza

Prievidza is a town in central-western Slovakia with multiple districts and neighboring villages under its administration. The center features residential areas, public squares, and local shops that shape the rhythm of daily life for residents.

The settlement's first written record dates to 1113 under the name Preuigan. By the 14th century, royal privileges had established it as a center for local commerce and administration.

The town center is shaped by Saint Bartholomew Church, whose Gothic stonework has defined the skyline for centuries. The Marian column nearby shows how religious monuments continue to structure the public space today.

The town has multiple schools and basic services scattered across its districts, making walking around feasible. Most points of interest are clustered in the center and easily reachable on foot.

The region holds Paleolithic finds that show people lived here in ancient times. These archaeological traces suggest it was one of the earliest settled areas in that part of the country.
