Levočský dom

Levočský dom is a large Renaissance building on Main Street 65 in the historical center of Košice, featuring stylized arcades in its courtyard. The structure connects to neighboring buildings and maintains a function that has continued for centuries.

The wealthy merchant Alexander Thurzo left the building to the town in 1542, and it was later transformed into an inn. This change marked the beginning of a long period of hospitality and commerce in the city center.

The building has served different communities over the centuries and reflects the changing makeup of the city. People gathered here for significant occasions and used it as a central meeting place for social events.

The building is located in an active area of the historical center and is easily accessible on foot. Its position on Main Street makes it a natural starting point for exploring the old town.

In the early 1600s, the building housed a print shop that is considered the first printing operation in the city. This workshop helped spread ideas and knowledge throughout the growing urban community.
