Holy Trinity Church, Podhradie, Baroque church in Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia.
Holy Trinity Church stands below Bratislava Castle near the Danube riverbank with traditional east-west orientation and a parish building forming a courtyard. Two bells cast in 1761 hang inside, with the larger one dedicated to Holy Trinity and a clock visible from multiple directions.
Built between 1734 and 1738, this church replaced a wooden chapel as part of Archbishop Imre Esterházy de Galántha's evangelization efforts following the 1713 plague. The reconstruction reflected broader efforts to strengthen Catholic presence in the city during a period of religious transition.
The main altar displays a Holy Trinity statue with Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian figures, representing protection from disease that historically affected the community.
The church sits at the base of the castle hill near the river, making it easily accessible on foot from the city center. The location is generally open to visitors and provides a quiet space to visit with views of the surrounding historic structures.
Priest Karol Scherz de Vasoja served here starting in 1855 and rescued over 50 people during emergencies throughout his tenure. His dedicated service ended tragically when a horse-drawn carriage struck him fatally in 1888.
