Veľký bok, Mountain summit in Malužiná, Slovakia.
Veľký bok is a 1,727 meter summit in the Kráľovohoľské Tatry range in central Slovakia. The peak stands separate from the main ridge and offers open views across the surrounding mountain terrain from its top.
A mountain lodge called Veľkoboká chata once stood in the saddle below the summit, serving hikers who passed through the area. The building was destroyed during World War II, but its foundation later became the base for a small hunting lodge.
The summit is managed by local hiking clubs that maintain the trails and welcome visitors year-round. The peak sits within a popular trekking region where walkers from Slovakia and abroad come to experience mountain life.
The hike starts from Malužiná village and follows blue trail markers to the saddle, then yellow markers to the summit, covering roughly 14 kilometers total. The path is well marked throughout and requires moderate effort, particularly on the final stretch to the top.
A natural spring sits just above the small hunting lodge that now occupies the site of the former mountain house. This water source was vital to travelers in the past and remains a useful stop for hikers today.
