Andrejcová, Mountain summit in Muránska planina, Slovakia
Andrejcová is a mountain summit in the Muránska planina region, located within the Low Tatras system. The peak rises to roughly 1,500 meters (4,900 feet) and features limestone formations surrounded by dense forests and alpine meadows.
The summit formed through natural geological processes as part of the Low Tatras limestone system millions of years ago. Its high position made it a natural landmark that people in medieval times recognized as a reference point for navigation and territorial knowledge.
Local mountain clubs organize regular gatherings at Andrejcová summit to maintain traditional Slovak hiking and mountaineering practices.
The summit can be reached via marked hiking trails that start from nearby villages and require moderate physical effort. Spring and autumn offer the most stable weather conditions, while the trails remain clearer and safer during these seasons compared to winter months.
The limestone formations create distinctive whistling sounds during strong winds, produced by air moving through natural cracks and cavities in the rock. This acoustic effect is most noticeable when winds blow from specific directions and intensities.
