Veľká lúka

Veľká lúka is a hill reaching 900 meters in elevation spanning the Brezno and Revúca districts in central Slovakia's Banská Bystrica region. The slopes are covered by dense forests interspersed with open grasslands that climb toward the summit.

The hill served as a natural boundary between neighboring settlements for generations before becoming an administrative border. The formalization of this dividing line occurred when Revúca District was established in 1996.

The meadows around the hill reflect traditional farming practices that created the open grasslands visitors see across the landscape.

The hill is accessible via marked trails connecting to Muránska planina National Park with parking available at key entry points. Visitors should prepare for changing terrain and weather conditions, particularly during transition seasons.

The summit sits exactly on the border line between two districts, making it a rare geographic point where visitors symbolically stand in two regions at once. This positioning creates an unusual experience for those walking along the ridge.
