Lutheran College of Prešov

The Lutheran College is a three-story building in Renaissance style with balanced proportions and classical architectural elements throughout its structure. The protected facades and interior spaces display the period's characteristic elegance and continue to serve as an educational facility today.

Protestant estates of Upper Hungary founded this educational institution in 1667 as a center for Lutheran learning during the Habsburg monarchy. The establishment followed efforts to create spaces for reformed religious education in the region.

Inside the building, memorial plaques commemorate the Bloody Court of Carraffa in 1687 and the religious persecution that followed. These visible reminders mark an important part of the region's past that visitors can observe directly.

The protected monument is located in central Prešov and remains an active educational facility with visiting possibilities that should be confirmed in advance. Weekday visits work best when the institution is in operation and certain areas may be accessible to visitors.
