Museum of Aviation, Aviation museum at Košice Airport, Slovakia
The museum displays military aircraft such as MiG fighters, helicopters, and civilian planes in separate exhibition areas. Equipment includes engines, instruments, and other aviation technology that shows how flight has developed over time.
The museum opened in 2002 as part of Slovakia's technical museum network and reopened in 2006 after major improvements to its buildings and displays. This renovation made it a proper home for the country's growing aviation collection.
The gallery called Per Ardua ad Astra tells the story of Slovak pilots who flew with the Royal Air Force during World War II. Visitors can explore personal accounts and objects from this important chapter in aviation history.
The museum sits on the grounds of Kosice Airport and can be reached by car or public transport. Plan to spend a few hours walking through the different exhibition halls to see everything.
The collection includes an intercontinental ballistic missile called the SS-24 Scalpel that Ukraine gifted to the museum. It is the only one of its kind on display in Slovakia.
