Bachureň

Bachureň is a forested mountain summit near Sabinov that rises to about 1000 meters, with open meadows giving way to dense woodland as you climb higher. The peak sits surrounded by a mix of grassland and forest on its northeast-facing slopes.

A network of hiking paths was developed across this mountain in the late 20th century to connect local towns and historical sites in the surrounding area. These trails transformed the peak into an accessible destination linking several villages together.

The villages at the base of this peak still practice traditional ways of gathering from the forest, with residents knowing which slopes yield the best berries and mushrooms in different seasons. This direct relationship with the mountain shapes how people in the area spend their time.

Well-marked trails lead to the summit from several nearby villages, with wooden benches placed along the route and at the top for rest stops. The hike is straightforward, though conditions vary depending on the season and recent weather.

From the top, visitors can see far across multiple mountain ranges including the High Tatras and other distant ridges. On clear days, the view stretches to reveal valleys and peaks that reach well beyond the immediate surroundings.
