Lipovce, Medieval castle ruins in Lipovce, Slovakia.
Lipovce castle ruins stand on Jazvečí Hill in eastern Slovakia, consisting of stone fortification walls and a remaining tower about 4 meters (13 feet) high. The site overlooks surrounding valleys and mountains.
The castle was built in the 13th century as a strategic guard post and was abandoned in the 15th century, when nature gradually reclaimed the structure.
The ruins show how medieval builders constructed defensive structures, with stone walls and foundations still revealing the techniques used during that era.
Access is via an unmarked path from the state road between Lipovce and Lačnov, about 600 meters (1,970 feet) from the starting point. The terrain is natural and requires sturdy footwear.
From the hilltop, visitors can see the Lačnov Canyon and the Zlá Diera Cave system as part of the surrounding landscape. These nearby sites offer additional exploring opportunities within the same area.
