YMCA, Heritage building in District I, Bratislava, Slovakia.
The YMCA building features an irregular U-shaped layout with a symmetric three-wing design and traditional face brickwork on its exterior walls.
Construction began in 1920 under architect Alois Balán's direction, making it the first YMCA building in continental Europe when completed in 1923.
The YMCA building introduced several sports to Slovakia, including basketball, volleyball, and rugby, while supporting educational programs and civil activism.
The structure houses multiple tenants and provides spaces for community activities, workshops, and seminars in central Bratislava near public transportation.
The building combines rondo-cubistic and neoclassical architectural styles with Dutch and German influenced brickwork patterns throughout its facade.
