Afrin District

Afrin District is an administrative area in northern Aleppo Governorate, Syria, marked by mountains in the west and flatter plains toward the center and east. The terrain shapes where people settle and how they work, with geography playing a key role in local activities.

The district shifted significantly during the Syrian Civil War, moving toward autonomous administration in 2012 and then coming under Turkish control in 2018. These transitions reshaped the region's political and administrative structures.
