Dederiyeh Cave, Archaeological cave site in Mount Simeon, Syria.
The limestone cave extends 50 meters deep with a 15-meter wide chamber featuring a main entrance and a natural chimney at the back section.
Archaeological excavations since 1987 have revealed multiple Neanderthal remains, including two complete child skeletons dating back to approximately 100,000 BC.
The cave contains numerous Middle Paleolithic artifacts and animal fossils, providing insights into Neanderthal hunting practices and daily activities.
Located 60 kilometers northwest of Aleppo in the Afrin District, the cave sits 450 meters above sea level on the left bank of a wadi.
The site yielded remains of fifteen Neanderthal individuals, with more than half being children, making it the largest collection in the northern Levant.
