N'Djamena, Capital city in southern Chad

N'Djamena spreads along the eastern bank of the Chari River at its junction with the Logone River in an alluvial plain at 298 meters elevation.

French commander Émile Gentil established Fort-Lamy in 1900, which was later renamed to N'Djamena in 1973 during President Tombalbaye's program of Africanization.

The Chad National Museum exhibits a notable Sahelanthropus skull fragment, while the Al-Mouna Cultural Center presents local art and traditions.

The municipal economy centers on meat processing, fishing industries, and regional trade of livestock, salt, dates, and grains through its international airport.

The city functions as the headquarters of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, managing water resources across multiple African nations.
