King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Research university in Bang Mot, Bangkok, Thailand
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi is a research university in the Bangkok district of Bang Mot covering about 52 acres (21 hectares). The site includes engineering and science faculties along with several laboratories and workshops for technical education.
The institution began in 1960 as Thonburi Technical College offering practical training for craftsmen and technicians. It became an independent university in 1986 following new higher education legislation.
The golden dome of the main building stands at the center of the campus and serves as a meeting point for students between lectures. The open courtyard below is often used in the mornings by groups studying together or exchanging ideas.
The main library is located near the entrance and accessible most weekdays, while workshops and labs often require prior arrangement. A free shuttle bus connects the main site with the second campus in Bang Khun Thian.
A small botanical garden behind the faculty building displays plant species used in technical projects and research. Many visitors overlook this spot even though it is freely accessible and offers a quiet retreat.
