Wat Phra Ram

The stone temple complex contains multiple stupas, ceremonial buildings, and meditation halls arranged around a central courtyard following Thai architectural principles.

King Ramesuan ordered the construction of Wat Phra Ram in 1369 at the location where the cremation of his father King Ramathibodi took place.

The temple represents classical Ayutthaya period architecture with its prangs, chedis, and symmetrical layout reflecting Buddhist cosmological principles in stone structures.

Visitors can reach the temple complex via tuk-tuk or bicycle from central Ayutthaya, with entrance fees supporting the preservation of archaeological structures.

The main prang rises 40 meters above ground level and contains hidden chambers that once stored precious Buddhist manuscripts and religious artifacts.
