Thoeng, Administrative district in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand
The district extends over 821 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, featuring Doi Ian peak at 1,174 meters and the Ing River flowing through its territory.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, Thoeng functioned under the Lanna Kingdom with Jao Muang establishing city walls, canals, and temples throughout the region.
The Ngan Dok Siaw Ban festival in February brings together hill tribes for traditional performances and contests at Ban Rom Fah Thai.
The district contains ten administrative subdivisions with 175 villages, two main townships, and essential facilities including Thoeng Hospital and district offices.
Nong Khuang, a 14-acre natural swamp within the district, provides fishing opportunities while maintaining its ecological characteristics throughout the seasons.
