Wat Chet Yot

Wat Chet Yot is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai built around seven prominent chedis decorated with detailed patterns and positioned above a central pyramidal foundation. The complex includes several supporting structures and open spaces that create functional areas for worship and daily activities.

The temple was built during the Lanna Kingdom period and draws architectural inspiration from the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, India. This foreign influence shaped how the structure was designed and laid out.

The outer walls feature 70 stucco reliefs of divine beings whose faces were modeled after members of the ancient royal family. This blend of religious and royal imagery creates a distinctive visual feature rarely seen elsewhere.
