Great Guan Yin Statue, Wat Huay Pla Kang, Buddhist statue at Wat Huay Pla Kang, Rim Kok, Thailand
The Great Guan Yin Statue at Wat Huay Pla Kang is a towering white monument with 25 floors that dominates the temple grounds. An internal elevator takes visitors through multiple levels decorated with wooden statues before reaching the observation platform near the top.
The statue was completed in 2016 as part of the broader temple complex that blends Thai Lanna and Chinese architectural traditions. This combination reflects the shared spiritual heritage between both cultures that inspired the construction.
The statue depicts Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy in Buddhist belief, and her presence shapes how people come here to pray for compassion and healing. Pilgrims leave offerings throughout the temple grounds, showing how deeply this figure is honored.
An internal elevator carries visitors up to the observation level where they can see across surrounding valleys and mountain ranges. Morning visits offer the clearest views, and the steep internal stairways require a moderate level of fitness.
Inside the statue are multiple floors displaying hundreds of small wooden Guanyin figures placed by visitors and devotees over the years. Dragon sculptures guard the entrance stairway, representing protection and good fortune in Chinese tradition.
