Thung Song is a district in Nakhon Si Thammarat located in southern Thailand, divided into thirteen subdistricts across its territory. The region comprises numerous villages spread throughout the area, forming the basic administrative units of the district.
The district emerged as an administrative region in southern Thailand with a history tied to local water management and farming practices. A major dam project was proposed in the 1980s to address drought issues, though it did not receive governmental approval until 2016.
Each of the 125 villages within Thung Song maintains their own administrative organizations, contributing to the preservation of local governance traditions.
A railway station at Thung Song Junction serves as the main transport hub, connecting the region to other parts of southern Thailand. Roads link the various subdistricts and villages, making travel through the area relatively straightforward.
The Ban Nuea area in Namtok Subdistrict is home to a growing population of sambar deer that have thrived through local conservation efforts. This deer population has become a notable part of the region's wildlife ecosystem.
