Khao Phra Wihan National Park, National park in Si Sa Ket Province, Thailand

Khao Phra Wihan National Park spreads across three districts and combines dense forests, mountain ridges, dramatic cliff faces, and several waterfalls throughout its terrain. The landscape supports diverse wildlife and offers viewing points where visitors can see across the border into Cambodia from elevated positions.

The park received official protection in 1998, marking the preservation of natural landscapes that had long held importance for the border region. This designation safeguarded one of the last significant forest areas in this frontier zone and enabled continued protection of the wildlife species that inhabit it.

The park contains remnants of ancient Khmer architecture that visitors can encounter along the trails, showing how this border region blended two cultural traditions over centuries. These structures reflect the long interaction between Thai and Cambodian communities in this area.

The park features multiple hiking trails of varying difficulty that wind through the forested areas and lead to observation points throughout the landscape. The main access point is near the town of Kantharalak, from where visitors can reach different entrances of the park.

The park rises above 600 meters in elevation, with several spots offering views that stretch all the way to the Cambodian side of the border. This height makes the hikes physically demanding but rewards visitors with perspectives that are otherwise difficult to access.
