Mae Wong National Park spans 894 square kilometers within the Dawna Mountain Range, featuring rivers, dense forests, and peaks reaching 1,964 meters in elevation.
The national park, established in 1987, encompasses territories previously inhabited by Hmong, Yao, Muzer, and Karen hill tribes across its mountainous terrain.
The park represents a crucial component of Thailand's Western Forest Complex, connecting nineteen protected areas between Thailand and Myanmar through natural corridors.
Visitors can access the park through a 30-kilometer road leading to Chong Yen campsite, with entrance hours restricted between 6 AM and 6 PM daily.
Camera traps documented nine individual tigers in 2011, while the park hosts 340 bird species, including the location-specific rusty-capped fulvetta.
