Royal Thai Naval Academy, Naval academy of Thailand
The Royal Thai Naval Academy is a naval school in Pak Nam, Samut Prakan, where future navy officers are trained. The grounds spread across open green spaces and sturdy brick buildings along the water, where naval vessels lie docked nearby.
The academy was founded in 1898 by King Chulalongkorn and officially opened on November 20, 1906, to build Thailand's naval strength. After moving several times since its start, it has been settled in Samut Prakan since 1952.
The academy is a place where uniforms and daily drills shape the rhythm of daily life. Cadets learn discipline and teamwork through hands-on experience rather than theory alone.
The grounds are easy to reach since there is a BTS station nearby named after the academy. Visitors should wear modest clothing and be respectful and quiet during any ceremonies.
The academy started aboard a warship called Maha Chakri that the king donated to the institution before it eventually moved to land. This royal connection shows the close bond between Thailand's monarchy and its naval force.
