Wat Yai

Wat Yai is a Buddhist temple in a residential area, notable for its traditional Thai architecture with a prominent main hall. The building displays elaborately crafted roofs and decorative details throughout its design.

The site dates back to the Ayutthaya period, when a Dutch trading post called New Amsterdam stood here. This past shows that the area served as a center for international exchange over several centuries.

The temple serves as a gathering place where local Buddhist practitioners come together for rituals and religious observances. People here participate in ceremonies that follow the rhythms of the Buddhist calendar.

The temple is located near Thepharak Road, behind the Big C Bang Phli supermarket, and is easy to access. The Old Bang Phli Market sits nearby, which helps with finding the location.

Inside stands the Luang Pho To Buddha statue, a revered image with a special origin story. According to local accounts, brothers discovered this statue floating in the Khlong Samrong canal.
