Wat Yai

Wat Yai is a Buddhist temple in a residential area, notable for its traditional Thai architecture with a prominent main hall. The building displays elaborately crafted roofs and decorative details throughout its design.

The site dates back to the Ayutthaya period, when a Dutch trading post called New Amsterdam stood here. This past shows that the area served as a center for international exchange over several centuries.

The temple is located near Thepharak Road, behind the Big C Bang Phli supermarket, and is easy to access. The Old Bang Phli Market sits nearby, which helps with finding the location.

Inside stands the Luang Pho To Buddha statue, a revered image with a special origin story. According to local accounts, brothers discovered this statue floating in the Khlong Samrong canal.
