Lak Si, Administrative district in northern Bangkok, Thailand
Lak Si is an administrative district in northern Bangkok, covering two sub-districts called Thung Song Hong and Talat Bang Khen. The area blends residential neighborhoods with pockets of commercial activity and remains well connected to downtown via the MRT Pink Line.
The district took its name from a milestone marker along the Khlong Prem Prachakon canal, a waterway developed during King Chulalongkorn's reign. The naming reflects how canal systems shaped the early settlement and growth of this northern area.
Local craftspeople here maintain traditional skills in Thai kite making and mask carving, with artisans creating Khon masks used in classical dance performances.
Getting around is easiest via the MRT Pink Line, which runs along Chaeng Watthana Road and offers multiple exits for exploring different parts of the district. The district office can help with directions and basic information if you need assistance.
The district experienced an unusual demographic shift, with its population declining notably between 2010 and 2020 despite broader urban expansion. This makes the area quieter and less crowded than many other parts of Bangkok.
