Khlong Bang Luang Floating Market, Traditional floating market in Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen, Thailand.
The Khlong Bang Luang Floating Market is a canal-side floating market in the Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen neighborhood of Bangkok. Vendors sell fresh produce, snacks, and traditional Thai food from wooden boats along a stretch of canal flanked by old houses and open craft workshops.
In the early 1800s, local merchants gathered at the Phasi Charoen canal to trade goods by boat, making it one of Bangkok's early commercial waterways. Over the following generations, artisans and families settled along the banks, turning the canal into a residential and working community.
The canal banks here are lined with old wooden houses where painters, weavers, and potters work with their doors open to the water. Walking through the area feels like stepping into a working neighborhood rather than a tourist site.
The market is within walking distance of Bang Phai metro station, and some visitors also arrive by boat from nearby piers along the canal network. Morning is the best time to visit, as most vendors and workshops are active early in the day.
Unlike many of Bangkok's busier tourist markets, this one only operates on weekends, which gives it a slower pace than most canal markets in the city. Some of the boat vendors have been coming here for decades, selling the same dishes their parents once prepared.
