Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram, Buddhist temple in Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen, Thailand.
Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram is a Buddhist temple in the Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen area on Bangkok's Thonburi side, situated along the Khlong Dan canal. Its buildings combine traditional Thai architectural forms with Chinese decorative elements visible on the facades and ornaments throughout the grounds.
The temple was founded during the Ayutthaya period by a nobleman after his daughter recovered from illness and was ordained as a Buddhist devotee. The name itself reflects this origin, as "Nang Chi" refers to an ordained woman in Thai.
The temple is connected to the Chak Phra tradition, in which Buddha's relics travel on decorated boats through Bangkok's canals during lunar festivals. Visitors who time their trip around the lunar calendar can watch this water procession from the bank.
The temple is accessible via Soi Thoet Thai 41/1 and sits close to water transport connections along the canals. As with all Thai temples, visitors are expected to cover their shoulders and knees before entering any of the buildings.
Buddha's relics are kept here without a pagoda to house them, which is unusual for a Thai temple. The ordination hall also has a roof that lacks the standard gable apex typically found on this type of building.
