Wat Sa Morakot

The temple complex contains scattered laterite ruins within a large clearing, featuring both archaeological remnants and modern religious structures at coordinates N 13°51'47 E101°25'30.

Dating back to the Dvâravatî period and Khmer Empire, Wat Sa Morakot houses two of Thailand's oldest discovered Buddha footprints embedded in a laterite foundation.

The modern section includes an Ubosot with granite walls and metallic decorations, containing a replica of the revered Phra Phutta Chinnarat Buddha statue.

Visitors need to follow temple dress codes, removing shoes before entering buildings, and can combine their visit with nearby Wat Si Maha Pho temple.

The temple's architecture merges ancient laterite structures with contemporary design elements, incorporating aluminum decorations near windows and on outdoor steles called Bai Sema.
