Wat Nang Sao

Wat Nang Sao is a Buddhist temple in Tha Mai featuring a brick ordination hall called Bot Maha Ut built on a curved base with terracotta tiles and wooden beam supports. The structure includes gilded murals and Buddha statues throughout its interior spaces.

During a historical conflict with Burma, two sisters sought refuge in the temple and later contributed to its renovation after their survival. This personal connection to the site shaped its development over time and remains part of its documented history.

The ordination hall displays gilded murals and Buddha statues reflecting traditional Thai Buddhist religious practice and reverence. These decorations show how local devotees connect spirituality with daily worship and temple activities.

The site is accessible via Highway 35 and Highway 3091, then turning into Soi Wat Nang Sao 2 for about one kilometer. Best visits occur when the nearby waterways are easily accessible and the site is open for public observation.

A fish sanctuary beside the Tha Chin River gathers large numbers of striped catfish for visitors to observe and feed. This surprising combination of a religious site with wildlife care creates a memorable experience that sets the location apart.
