Kébili, Administrative region in southwestern Tunisia

The Kebili Governorate covers 22,454 square kilometers of land, stretching from the Algerian border to the expansive Chott el-Jerid salt flats.

Archaeological findings indicate human settlements in the Kebili region dating back 200,000 years, making it one of North Africa's earliest inhabited areas.

The population of Kebili represents a mix of Berber, Arab, and African communities, each contributing to the region's traditions and social practices.

Visitors can access the region through six delegations: Douz North, Douz South, Faouar, Kebili North, Kebili South, and Souk El Ahed.

The governorate contains Tunisia's largest salt pan, where temperature extremes have reached recorded highs of 55.0 degrees Celsius.
