Lars homestead

The Lars homestead is a film set in the Tunisian desert with a distinctive domed entrance structure and an underground dwelling built into the landscape. The site shows how the building was integrated into the surrounding desert environment.

The homestead was built in 1976 for the first Star Wars film as the childhood home of a main character. It was later rebuilt in the early 2000s for a sequel in the film series.

The site is located in a remote desert region and is best reached with a guide or four-wheel drive vehicle. You should bring plenty of water as there is little shade or refreshment available on-site.

The most famous scenes at this location were actually filmed at two different places, with only the exterior entrance belonging to this homestead. The courtyard and interior shots were captured at another location several kilometers away.
