Tunis Science City, Science museum in Hai Es-Salam district, Tunisia
La Cité des sciences is a science museum in Tunis spanning six hectares with multiple exhibition spaces connected by a pedestrian walkway. A modern digital planetarium completes the facility, offering visitors additional insights into space and the universe.
The facility was built on the site of the Abu Fehr basin, a 13th century construction from the reign of Hafsid Sultan Abu Abd Allah Muhammad al-Mustansir. This location thus merges modern scientific education with the region's historical past.
The exhibition spaces follow a chronological order from the creation of the universe to modern times, presenting scientific knowledge through interactive displays. Visitors experience how scientific thinking has developed and shaped understanding across different periods.
The facility includes a media library with free internet access, separate sections for children and adults, and spaces for rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The spacious layout allows visitors to explore different areas at their own pace.
A mobile science bus carries traveling exhibitions, mini-planetariums, and a laboratory to different locations across Tunisia. This program extends scientific education to remote areas that cannot easily access the main facility.
