Saklıkent Canyon, Natural canyon in southwestern Turkey.
Saklıkent Canyon is a limestone gorge near Fethiye and Kaş, stretching for several kilometers with walls reaching up to 300 meters in height. A cold mountain river runs through it year-round, fed by springs from the surrounding peaks.
The Turkish government designated this area as a national park in 1996 to protect its geological formations and natural resources. This decision helped preserve the canyon's unique landscape for future generations.
The name Saklıkent means Hidden City in Turkish, describing how this canyon has remained isolated and difficult to reach through history. Walking through the narrow passages, you sense why locals kept this place as a secret for generations.
Waterproof shoes are essential since the path includes wooden walkways and wading through river water. Bring a second pair of shoes or sandals so you can have dry feet when leaving the canyon.
The canyon contains around 30 waterfalls scattered along its course, some accessible through guided tours that include rappelling activities. These waterfalls create small pools where visitors can swim during warmer months.
