Çerkezköy

Çerkezköy is a district in Tekirdağ Province characterized by extensive industrial zones with numerous manufacturing facilities. The sector focuses on textiles, plastics, paints, and chemicals, which form the economic foundation of the region.

The area was formerly called Türbedere and became a refuge for people fleeing the Caucasus region following the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. This resettlement shaped the population and regional development for generations to come.

The central square displays traditional Turkish architecture with public buildings arranged around a monument to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. This arrangement reflects the importance of this figure in shaping local identity and community spaces.

The town lies roughly 110 kilometers from Istanbul and about 56 kilometers from Tekirdağ, connected to major cities through the D567 road and railway station. The transport connections make it straightforward to plan day trips or organize further travel in the region.

A large military complex in the area functions as the primary basic training center for the Turkish armed forces and serves as a major employer in the region. This military presence has shaped the character and infrastructure of the place for decades.
